Have you ever spent any time visiting The Woodlands as if you are a tourist? So many of us live in the Houston and surrounding areas that we forget how many destinations we have in our own backyard. Betty & I have decided to visit a few places in The Woodlands to show you around.
If you haven’t been out to The Woodlands in a while you may not have realized that they have set up a complete Waterway system. It is similar to the Riverwalk in San Antonio as it is surrounded by great restaurants and shops. You can even take a Water Taxi up and down the river to see all the sights.
If you are feeling energetic you can rent a kayak at the boathouse. As much as I would love to take Betty on a kayak-simulated gondola ride (complete with yours truly singing for her as I row), you can imagine, I have problems rowing a boat with these arms so we did not do that.
Our first stop was for dinner and yes, if you have been watching our recent restaurant stops, you know we LOVE our Tex/Mex so we decided to stop at Cyclone Anaya’s Mexican Kitchen. If you aren’t familiar with Cyclone Anaya’s history let me catch you up. Cyclone Anaya was actually a wrestler. Again, something I am not good at . . . for obvious reasons (damn stiff body). He was the Champion of Mexico before coming to the US and competing in the pro-wrestling circuit. While here he meets a former Miss Houston, falls in love and gets married and has a family. (Sounds like the same path I am on with Miss Naked Gnome.) He and the family decided to open a restaurant and for over 40 years they have been a staple in the Houston area.
I think next time I am going to try out their special Roasted Jalapeno Margarita!!!
Although we were too full to try out the restaurant next door, we did say hello to the great people at Nick’s Fish Dive Oyster Bar.
They, along with Cyclone Anaya’s are just some of the great restaurants around the Houston and surrounding areas that are participating in Houston Restaurant Weeks.
Houston Restaurant Weeks is the best way to try out new restaurants, get a three or four course meal at a great price while raising money for The Houston Food Bank. Started in 2003 by Cleverley Stone of “The Cleverley Show”, Houston Restaurant Weeks has raised over $7.6 million to fight hunger in Houston and has provided almost 23 million meals to neighbors in need through the Houston Food Bank. Please make sure to eat at a participating restaurant between now and Labor Day Weekend to help contribute.
From there we headed over to the The Woodlands Mall. I will save you some time and leave out all the great places we went, but I will tell you about the two BEST places that we visited.
This place has everything OUR SIZE!!!!! It was great. We got to play a little dress up in some of our favorite looks like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, naked skater dude & dudette and some wonderful wings . . . “I am Batman!” (you should have read that George Clooney style).
We even took to racing cars. Betty might be in the lead now but I am going to win . . . why . . . because . . .”I am Batman!” (That one should have been read Will Arnett Lego Batman style).
When you are naked gnomes you have to drive in a straight line unfortunately. Not a lot of arm movement to be able to use a steering wheel.
After Build-a-Bear Workshop it was off to Barnes & Noble for our FAVORITE AUTHOR
She is the New York Times & USA Today best-selling author of the series:
Sinners on Tour Exodus End One Night with Sole Regret
Next it was time to hit the concert scene at the one stop The Woodlands is most famous for The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. We love going to concerts here. The sounds is great. Tonight we got to watch Saint Asonia, Alter Bridge, Breaking Benjamin, & Disturbed. They were all FANTASTIC!!! We had about an hour and half delay because of the weather but the bands stayed late to make up for it. Everything was perfect . . . except that one drunk woman two rows up that keep worshipping her favorite band by holding up her concert shirt. We are only 18 inches tall woman!!! Your shirt is not made of glass!!!!!!
All in all a great day was spent visiting The Woodlands and there is way more to explore so we will definitely be going back soon!
See you on our next adventure,
Betty Booty & Donny Dimples
